Posted March 07, 2018 12:00am PST A Windows 10 desktop wallpaper that comes pre-configured with your personal preferences will look amazing on your Windows 10 notebook or desktop computer.
To get that look, it’s important to choose the right color, contrast, and brightness levels.
Here’s how to get started.
How to Create a Windows 10 Desktop Wallpaper from scratch with Color and Contrast Settings Color settings can make a big difference when it comes to choosing a Windows desktop wallpaper.
When choosing a wallpaper for your Windows desktop, you’ll need to make sure that your personal colors, colors and contrast settings are correct.
You can find out more about color and contrast on the Color and Color Control Panel in Windows 10.
You’ll need a bright color for your wallpaper to stand out from the background.
A dark color will accentuate the color of your background.
In Windows 10, the default color for desktop backgrounds is black.
To set your personal color to black, press the Windows Logo key on your keyboard and select Customize Colors.
In the Customize Color dialog box, select the Background Color setting, and click Next.
Set Your Desktop Background to a Color You can change the color that your desktop background will use to match your desktop wallpaper, too.
In this example, the color blue is the default background color for Windows desktop backgrounds, but if you’re going for a more vivid color, select Black in the Color, Contrast, and Brightness options.
The Color option lets you choose a color that will contrast against your desktop.
In contrast, the Contrast option lets your desktop color stand out against the background of your wallpaper.
For more information on the Contrast and Brighten color options, see the Color Control panel in Windows.
If you want to set your desktop foreground color, you can do so in the Custom Color option.
You should select a color for the foreground that matches your desktop’s background color.
In some cases, you might need to change the background color of a background element that is overlaid on top of your desktop, such as the Windows logo.
In addition to changing the background, you also can adjust the background brightness and contrast.
To adjust the brightness and the contrast of your Windows Desktop Background, select Color in the Brightness and Contrast drop-down menu.
If your desktop Background is darker than the background colors, you may need to adjust the contrast in the Background Brightness drop-up menu.
In that case, click Brightness, and in the Contrast drop down menu, select Contrast.
The background colors will then be adjusted to match the desktop color.
To change the wallpaper background color, click the Color drop down in the Colors drop-downs menu.
You might need the desktop wallpaper background to match what you want the wallpaper to look like, but you can also change the brightness.
To dim the wallpaper, select Adjust the Brightlight and Bright Contrast dropdown menus in the Settings menu.
